North East and Borders Alpaca Group Vetinary Talk 24th May 2008 Mr David Parkins BVMS, MRCVS, a partner with Intake Veterinary Services of Hexham, has kindly agreed to talk to NEBAG members on Saturday, 24th May at 10.30 am. in Wall Village Hall. David will most probably be accompanied by a member of DEFRA. David is becoming very knowledgeable about alpacas and recently attended a Camelid Veterinary Conference in Harrogate.
The talk will cover general veterinary aspects of
alpaca breeding, with DEFRA advice regarding Blue Tongue, TB and Foot and
Mouth.
David has said that he will keep his talk to about
40 minutes with the hope that we could then have a discussion forum on
whatever questions may be raised.
Wall Village is about 5 miles north of Hexham, and
the Village Hall is just off the Village Green. I will send out
directions to anyone who needs them.
I would be grateful if you could let me know
if you intend to come to this talk which I think
will be highly informative, particularly as May is the time when Blue Tongue
is expected to become a problem and we will be at the start of the birthing
season.
Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served from 10.00
am
